Ampush COVID-19 Marketplace Update – 4/28/20
April performance suggests that the Facebook platform has started to rebound from the initial drop-off that COVID-19 social distancing measures had on its advertisers and users’ appetites for shopping.
What we’re watching out for:
- Whether purchase metrics can sustain current levels or if they erode. While physical stimulus checks will be mailed in early May, we theorize these will not have as large of an impact for two reasons: (a) Their staggered arrival and (b) People receiving physical checks are likely not as digitally savvy as those who received direct-deposits.
- Effectiveness of easing COVID-19 restrictions in some states as a proxy for changing outcomes to performance metrics and estimating the timeline for a return to “normal”.
